Offset printing machines for cold foiling
 

Cold foils have only begun to be used in conjunction with sheet-fed offset printing since a few years ago. The first generation of printing machines with an integrated cold foil module supported processing speeds of up to 12,000 sheets per hour. Only a single foil web could be processed at that time. Today it is possible to purchase cold foil units that support multiple foil webs running in parallel. The web widths can be adjusted according to the width of the design to be finished, thereby substantially reducing the foil consumption. Processing speeds have since increased to up to 16,000 sheets per hour.  

 

Machine Systems/Modules

 

Nearly all printing machine manufacturers now offer machine systems for cold foil applications, e.g.  Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, manroland, Komori, KBA, Mitsubishi.

The first three of these machine manufacturers offer their own foil modules, but there are also modules from  Foiltone Ltd, Vinfoil, Eagle Systems Inc - The Foil Experts, that can be retrofitted to sheet-fed offset printing machines.
